Network Facilitates Launch of PayPal Payments for Airline Tickets
UATP HELPS PAYPAL MAKE ITS SOUTHWEST AIRLINES CONNECTION
Washington, DC – UATP is helping to enable PayPal payments for online airline ticket purchases and
has successfully launched the second airline, Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV), on 9 July.
“The airline industry is responding to consumer demand for a safer, easier way to pay online, which is
exactly what PayPal offers,” Ralph Kaiser, president and CEO, UATP said. “UATP is able to help connect
PayPal to the airlines, providing the connections to fill consumer demand and offer a lower cost payment
option to the airlines.”
Through the UATP network of over 220 airlines around the globe, PayPal is able to use the network to
connect to the airlines and process payments.
“We’re excited that we’ve been able to bring PayPal payments to two airlines in the last two weeks,” said
Tyler Hoffman, senior director of large merchant sales at PayPal. “We look forward to working with
UATP, leveraging their network to bring PayPal payments to the industry.”
Making payments by PayPal is easy; consumers can choose PayPal as a payment method and conduct
what they see as a normal PayPal transaction. Airlines will process the payment like a UATP transaction
through the existing network.
With more than 143 million accounts, PayPal is a global leader in online payment solutions that allows a
safer, easier way to pay for items and services online. With PayPal, travelers have flexibility to pay for
tickets and can use debit cards, bank accounts, stored balances, or credit cards through their individual
PayPal accounts.
